Donations 

Q: How do I make an online Donation? 

Thank you so much for donating to support the Temple Sinai community! 

  • On the Payments & Donations page: If you are a member, please make sure you are signed-in to your account. If you are a visitor, please enter your name and contact information in “Visitors Pay or Donate Here.” 
  • In the field “Payment is”, select “a donation.” Note: this field will only appear if you are logged into a member account. Visitors please continue with the next step. 
  • In the field “Type”, please select from the drop-down menu what Temple Sinai fund you would like to support. 
  • In the field “Amount”, please enter the amount you would like to donate. 
  • In the field “Pay this amount” you can choose to either pay your donation amount right now, at a later date, or in multiple installments. Please select whichever option matches your preference. If no option is selected, it will default to paying the full amount now. 
  • In the field “Payment Notes” you can enter any questions, comments, or additional information you would like the Temple Sinai finance office to take note of. 
  • Dedicate: to dedicate your donation for a special occasion or purpose: 
  • please select from the drop-down menu either “in memory of,” “in support of,” “in appreciation of,” or “in honor of.” 
  • Then in the tribute box below enter the name of who or what you are dedicating this gift for. 
  • In the field “Your Name,” please enter how you would like to be listed on acknowledgment letters or donor listings (ex: Joe & Jane Smith, The Smith Family, etc.). If you prefer to remain anonymous, please enter “anonymous” here. 
  • Person to Notify: If you would like a notice of this donation to go to a 3rd party or honoree, please enter their full contact information (especially email) here. These notifications will not include the donation amount in order to maintain your privacy.
  • ShulCloud may require you to fill in the "Person to Notify" section even if you do not have a 3rd party you wish notified. If that is the case, please fill in this section with your own information. Our apologies for that inconvenience.
  • Click “Continue to Payment” to proceed to pay online. You can pay online either by credit card or by ACH. 

Q: What do each of Temple Sinai’s different funds support? 

A: To learn more about what each of our funds support, visit the About Our Funds page of our temple website. 

 

Q: What are the voluntary charges that appear on my member statement? 

A: Providing support for select groups is important for building community and helping our congregation fulfill its commitment to Tikkun Olam – repairing the world. The annual amount totals $238. A breakdown and description of funds can be seen here.

 

Q: Who should I reach out to with questions about making a donation to Temple Sinai?

Payments 

Q: How do I make an online payment for my member account? 

  • Please make sure you are signed-in to your account. 
  • On the Payments & Donations page: In the field “Payment is”, select “for account balance.” 
  • In the field “Paying For”, select the unpaid amounts that you would like this payment to cover. You can also type in a custom number if you would no like to pay the full amount. 
  • Based on what you entered in the “Paying For” fields, the “Amount” will automatically populate the total amount. 
  • In the field “Pay this amount” you can choose to either pay the amount you selected right now, at a later date, or in multiple installments. Please select whichever option matches your preference. If no option is selected, it will default to paying the full amount now. 
  • In the field “Payment Notes” you can enter any questions, comments, or additional information you would like the Temple Sinai finance office to take note of. 
  • Click “Continue to Payment” to proceed to pay online. You can pay online either by credit card or by ACH. 

Q: Is there a required schedule for fulfilling my annual membership financial commitment to Temple Sinai? 

A: No, there is no set schedule for fulfilling your annual membership financial commitment pledge. However, we do ask that 25% of your membership commitment be paid by September 1 annually.

Ways To Give 

Q: What are the processing fees for online Credit Card & ACH payments?

A: Online member payments automatically include the processing fee Temple Sinai is charged to process the transaction. Online donations include the option to either include the processing fee as an addition to your donation or to have the processing fee taken out of your donation. Temple Sinai is charged 2.9% for credit card transactions and 0.7% for ACH transactions, plus $0.15 per transaction. If you prefer not to incur the processing fee, you can also mail your payment to Temple Sinai or pay by gift of securities or direct wire transfer.”

 

Q: Can I still make payments or donate to Temple Sinai by check? 

A: Yes! You can mail any checks to Temple Sinai at 3100 Military Rd NW, Washington, DC 20015. If you are making a member payment, please address your envelope to the attention of the Finance Office. If you are making a donation, please address your envelope to the attention of the Development Office and include this form together with your donation. 

 

Q: Can I give to Temple Sinai with a gift of securities? 

A: Yes! You can make a gift of securities to Temple Sinai for both membership financial commitments and/or donations. Please follow the instructions here and let our Finance Manager, Andrei Israel, know how many shares and what security you plan to give and how this gift should be applied to payments or donations. 

 

Q: Can I give to Temple Sinai with a direct wire transfer? 

A: Yes! You can make a direct wire transfer to Temple Sinai for both membership financial commitments and/or donations. Please follow the instructions here and let our Finance Manager, Andrei Israel, know the amount you plan to transfer and how this gift should be applied to payments or donations.

 

Q: Can I give to Temple Sinai with by IRA Required Minimum Distribution (IRA RMD)?

A: Yes! IRA owners age 70½ or over when the distribution is made can give a Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD) from their IRA distribution. Those aged 73 and above are required to take a minimum distribution from their IRA retirement accounts. Donating from your IRA distribution to Temple Sinai as a qualified charitable organization may reduce your taxable income while also supporting the Temple Sinai community.
